We’re thrilled to bits because we’ve just got our tickets through for the Crossfit event that everyone’s talking about - the European Championships, happening on the 28th January!
We’re super excited for two reasons: One: We get to see an array of awesome athletes competing to be crowned European Crossfit Champ and Two: We’ll be taking Big Crocodile Clothing on the road again, and touting our leisure-wares at the awe inspiring Crowne Plaza Arena, Colchester’s fabulous 2500 spectator capacity arena. Woop woop indeed.
Winners get to bag some big bucks too and the competition attracts lifters, lungers and squatters from all over the world.
The brainchild of Colchester CrossFit guru Carl Saville who was keen to make his CrossFit box sociable, competitive and thoroughly fun, The European Championship competition has developed from local inter-box comps which fast became over subscribed and super popular. This led to bigger and better national competitions and now the general remit is more than 2000 sign-ups, 300 finals places, an £11,000 prize pot and a lot of washboard abs.
With four categories battling it out: 30 Teens, 60 Scaled, 30 Masters and 180 RX, even if your ideal workout is a quick jog round the block, CrossFit is a great spectator sport and super inspiring to boot.
This year’s event will showcase some serious talent from the CrossFit world (and there should be plenty of CrossFit ‘celebrities’ to spot). There’s even going to be a World Record attempt as musclebound Lee Wade Turner is aiming to pull ’The most strict muscle ups’ ever, ever, ever… and we’ll be cheering him on all the way. Previous European champions include powerhouse Kevin Lynch, super strong Laura Horvath, and Wonder Woman Helena Falk - and the list of finalists looks similarly impressive this time around.
We’ll be showing off our hot-off-the-press new lightweight stretch hoodies, our blingtastic gold logo tees, our seriously popular (and flattering) sports leggings and a wide range of our classic Big Croc printed tees so you can grab something to suit between rounds. We’re hoping to see plenty of Big Crocodile sports gear being modelled by competitors on the circuit too so if you’re planning on wearing a Big Crocodile vest or leisure t.shirt to strut your stuff in, don’t forget to send us a selfie or come along to the Big Crocodile stand and say hello.
We’ll have a full run-down of what else we’ll be up to in our next blog so if you’re hosting or taking part in a sports event or activity that you think Big Crocodile would love to be part of, why not drop us a line and tell us about it.
