Hailed as the biggest (and best) team fitness event in the whole of Europe, The Tribal Clash fitness festival has been running for 5 years and it’s getting bigger and better every time.
Kicking off on the 1st September, this year’s Tribal Clash sports fest is taking place right on the beach, in beautiful Bantham, South Devon. Not only will there be the usual awesome warrior challenges, we’re also expecting a full-on festival vibe with live music, party atmosphere, fabulous food, surfing, yoga and more. We can’t wait.
The Tribal Clash concept is grass-roots, back to basics fitness that’s totally in touch with Mother Nature. A true-grit competition combining Crossfit, obstacles and endurance challenges for mixed teams of super keen sporty types - all against the clock. Using simply constructed and unusual equipment for out-of-the-ordinary, adventurous challenges makes for a unique, uber challenging, sweat inducing, but super inspiring team bonding experience. Phew.
They’ll be lunging, squatting, balancing, shifting, running, swimming, climbing and negotiating the specially developed apparatus together. All with the overall aim of winning the coveted Tribal Clash Champions or Tribal Spirit Trophies (or at least making it through the first round without humiliation, whitewash, major wardrobe malfunction or hospitalisation).
Scoring is simple - the team doing the most work in the shortest time is ultimately victorious. And there’s a massive after party ’til the early hours as a reward, whether you’re celebrating, commiserating or just recuperating.
We’ll have plenty of our Tribal Clash inspired t.shirts up for grabs as well as our beach friendly vests, squat resistant shorts and cosy joggers and hoodies (for wearing once the sun goes down).
Big Crocodile founder and sports fan Pam is taking part in the competition for the second time this year.
She’s teaming up with five other fearsome warriors from her local gym - Crossfit Iron Duke (The home of Big Croc), who’ll all be kitted out in official Big Crocodile clothing so should be pretty easy to spot.
Although the top spot is looking a little unlikely, Pam is determined to come out of the competition feeling at least slightly less battered than last time around (she’s a little vague as to whether this was due to the extreme workout or the post-workout partying, but let’s just say she threw herself into both with enthusiasm).
This year, Pam’s trusty team mates are: Bex, Kirsty, James, Matt and Scotty, so the line-up includes a firefighter, a marine and a naval officer (as well as a very able sports clothing company founder). Definitely a band of super fitties with more than a little clash potential. They’ve been training hard and following some of the tips and workouts recommended on the Tribal Clash website (well worth a look if you’re after some fun stuff to try out with a team at the gym, or at the park).
Tickets are now sold out for this year’s Tribal Clash, but you can still get your hands on spectator tickets so why not come along and soak up the atmosphere and cheer on the teams. We’ll be keeping a close eye on proceedings via social media and looking forward to some more action shots of Pam and the gang, going large on the beach.
Best of luck to everyone currently in training for this truly fab festival of awesomeness. We look forward to meeting you (and beating you!) on the beach (maybe).
Thanks to Active Stills for the fab photos featured in this blog, and to Tribal Clash for having us.
